FINAL THING

WE DID IT! We chose Hot Chip's "One Pure Thought"and managed to fit it in almost perfectly with the animation - "I don't remember" goes with the last night part, the change in music fits with the heart eyes and the "I'll help you on your way" times with Hannah Whitlows credit, who doesn't even do graphics but was happy to help us out! Editing skills, we has them.

Though it's only a short animation, I think any longer and the viewer would lose interest. My favourite part is when the paper planes and the pens go INTO THE BOOK.

HOW?! WHERE DO THEY GO?!

I know where they go, but the viewer doesn't, which was what I wanted to create.
Also I wish I could explain why we used Duncan from Blue and why he turns in Antony Costa but I think it got to that time of the day, and you can go a bit loopy when you've been led in the same position for 3 hours.

We tried to make an illustrated story board, but it looked incredibly lame, so if your interested here's the plan that we had which we loosely followed to create the animation.

WORK IN PROGRESS

Some test shots for our animation, including how to get the plane to look like its folding - since this, we've been advised to shoot it 1 step at a time which will look much nicer! Then we practiced a flower rotation and luuurve heart eyes. Yes I'm the idiot with the heart eyes.

Then came about the day of our Animation - here are some of our test shots...

Lighting was an issue - we got some big fancy lights but a) they were ROASTING and b) we kept ending up with either a shadow in the top corner or a weird yellow glow. In the end we decided just to use the flash on the camera and edit the lighting in Final Cut. We also decided to change my dress because the coral just didn't match with all our scenes!

Fixing da hair for da test shoots.

All our items collated in colour order.

The aftermath.

RESEARCH 3

STATIONARY. COLOR. ORGANIZATION! This ones great because the pencils match the song perfectly, as they should seen as its a music video. We spent ages thinking how they did the rotating bit (imagine moving all those pencils one by one!) but then realised they probably just placed the pencils on a rotating table. The magic was ruined! However, you don't get this at first, which shows its well done. I want our animation to have that element - the "HOW DID THEY DO THAT?!"

RESEARCH 2

Impossible not to love OK Go's videos. This ones great because it uses people instead of inanimate objects, and it's done very well because at first you don't know its stop motion, but then they move without walking and its like wow magic.

RESEARCH 1

This is one of my favourite videos, which just so happens to be stop motion. It's about a Shell called Marcel. More than anything, it's hilarious. There's not much animation to it if I'm honest, I just thought I'd share it because its possibly the best video ever.

Introduction

For this project, we were asked to get into groups to create a stop motion animation.

My group consists myself (duh), Ailsa Robinson, Laura Walsh and Laura Wallbanks.

Our chosen quote to work from is....

[drum roll]

"We Were Lost in Thought"

Excitemondo.
